  • Do you have open adoption hours?

    No, adoptions are by appointment only. To get started, complete the Dog Adoption Application,and an adoption coordinator will contact you. Please review our full adoption requirements before applying.

  • What are your adoption fees?

    Adoption fees vary and are listed individually on each animal’s profile. These fees help cover food, shelter, and veterinary care for the animals.

  • Do you adopt out of state?

    Yes, we do adopt out of state. However, we do not adopt to all states. Please email us for more details before applying

  • What is The Hotel for Homeless Dogs?

    The Hotel for Homeless Dogs is a rescue and adoption facility based in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Operated by the New England Humane Society, it provides a safe haven for dogs rescued from high-kill shelters, abandonment, and neglect.

  • What are the adoption requirements?

    Some important adoption policies include:

    • No adult dogs (6+ months) adopted to homes with children under 13.
    • No untested dogs placed in homes with cats.
    • Renters must provide landlord approval.
    • A fenced yard is required if you live on a main road.
  • How do I adopt a dog?

    Complete the Dog Adoption Application. Adoptions are scheduled by appointment after we review your application and match you with a suitable dog.

  • How can I volunteer?

    We accept volunteers on an as-needed basis. Opportunities open at select times during the year. Visit our Volunteer Page to learn more and apply.

  • What are the volunteer requirements?

    Volunteers must:

    • Be at least 18 years old or apply with a parent/guardian.
    • Commit to at least 6 hours/month for 6 months.
    • Complete a background check
    • Be physically able to help with animal care tasks (if applicable).
  • Can I foster a dog?

    Yes! Fostering gives dogs a temporary home, which helps them decompress and prepare for adoption. Fill out a Foster Application to get started.

  • What is the '3 Days, 3 Weeks, 3 Months' rule?

    This rule helps adopters understand a dog’s adjustment process:

    • 3 Days: Decompression and overwhelm
    • 3 Weeks: Learning the routine.
    • 3 Months: Fully settling in and forming trust.
  • How can I donate?

    You can donate via our Donate Now page, Venmo (@TheHotelforHomelessDogs), or by texting NEHS to 89871. Your support directly helps animals in need.

  • What is the Humane Heroes program?

    Humane Heroes is our monthly donor program. For example, a $19/month gift helps us provide consistent care, food, and medical attention to our rescues.

  • Can I sponsor a suite or donate in memory of a pet?

    Yes. Visit our Ways to Give page to sponsor a suite, donate in honor or memory of a loved one, or support special initiatives.

  • Do you offer veterinary services?

    Yes. We provide wellness exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and more. Check our Veterinary Clinic page for details.

  • How do I contact you?
