At the Hotel for Homeless Dogs, we believe pets are family—and family is for life. Many pets are surrendered to shelters simply because their owners don’t know where to turn. That’s why we offer support, guidance, and resources to help pet owners navigate behavioral challenges, difficult circumstances, or life changes that may threaten the bond they share with their pet.
Through personalized counseling and access to tools and services, our goal is to help pets stay in the homes they know and love. When keeping a pet is no longer possible, we encourage owners to seek private rehoming options first—these transitions are typically far less stressful for the pet and can often result in quicker, more stable placements.
Admissions by Appointment Only
Due to limited space and resources, we are unable to accept walk-in surrenders. An admissions consultation is required before a pet can be considered for intake. Pets are accepted by appointment only and appointments are scheduled based on shelter availability, which may mean a wait during high-demand periods.
During your consultation, we’ll explore all possible alternatives to surrender and help determine the best path for your pet. While we’ll always do our best to support each pet’s individual needs, we cannot guarantee placement or adoption.
We strongly encourage all pet owners to explore other rehoming solutions before pursuing shelter intake. Please use the tools and resources linked below, including our Rehome option, to help you find the best outcome for your pet.
Surrendering to The Hotel
If you are in a position where none of the resources above will be a fit for you, please complete our surrender application below. The Hotel charges a per-animal surrender fee as listed. While we never want to turn away an animal in need, these fees help cover the costs of caring for your pet until it is adopted, including food, cleaning, and medical care. We are committed to finding loving homes for all healthy, adoptable pets.
